Kingscote Barn Spring Wedding

Sarah presented me with a challenge when styling her hair ... make it look like a more polished version of her regular hair do without changing it too much! When people with short or bobbed hair styles come to me for wedding hair they very often ask what can be done? Although you have to be more creative with shorter hair for weddings it can end up being more effective.

After blow drying Sarah's hair I backcombed the crown to create lift and add balance to the jewelled head band that Sarah wore. A simple version of a classical style which suited Sarah perfectly and looked great

Styling for the wedding took place in Spring Cottage in the grounds of Kingscote Barn but then half way through the morning we moved over to The Tallet House adjacent to the barn for Sarah to complete getting ready.

Her bridesmaid's hair was styled into a full bodied and curled up do, having set it on hot rollers I pinned the hair up into a messy curled look.

Once I finished styling the hair for the girls I couldn't resist taking photos of the stone circle behind the barn, I think they would be a great backdrop for wedding photos.

Tetbury Wedding

Photo ... Kevin Mullins

A special wedding for Nicola and her wedding party in Tetbury. Styling for the hair took place at the beautiful Hare and Hounds hotel just outside Tetbury in Gloucestershire.

Nicola wanted a true classical style for her wedding, this beautiful nape chignon really hit the mark and Nicola looked amazing!

Adding a sparkling vintage hair clip designed into the shape of a leaf was the perfect finishing detail for the chignon

'My brides' are always stylish girls and Nicola was no exception deciding that Jimmy Choo shoes were the order of the day and what the hell ... if she was having the shoes she was having the matching clutch bag! Stunning!!

Styling the hair for the wedding party was great fun, Sophie pictured here was in a wheelchair but this didn't stop her from joining in the fun of the morning. With waist length hair a plait over to one side was just perfect, a sparkly band and silky flower were added to finish the look.

Nicola's sister went for a curled up do, something that was to look soft and tousled but also a practical style that her small baby couldn't grab hold of!!

Styling the other bridesmaids hair, I pinned some up to add a detailed section just below the crown whilst the rest fell into soft curls.

Nicola looked AMAZING in her gorgeous dress and lace bolero jacket , I had a really great morning styling hair for them all, a great group of girls.

Downton Abbey inspired Bridal hair at Kingscote Barn

Another wedding for me at Kingscote Barn near Tetbury and Stroud, I always rave about this venue but with just reason, not only is it one of the nicest converted Cotswold barns I know but it is expertly run by the most superb team, Kelly, Rachel and Laura always make sure that every wedding is looked after with 5 star attention!

Jo asked me to create a Downton Abbey inspired hair do for her wedding and having explored photos together we created this hairstyle which was based around Lady Mary Crawley's look on the programme.

Jo and her team of bridesmaids were getting ready in 'The Byre' which is the new accommodation at Kingscote Barn, a beautifully converted old barn it now provides beautiful rooms for brides before and after their wedding celebrations.

Jo's hair suited this vintage style superbly, using heated rollers to give it extra body and a wave I then pinned it low into the nape of the neck in curls.

Styling the bridesmaids hair I created an elegant chignon for one and a tousled up do for the other, both styles are very popular choices for weddings.

Once I had completed Jo's hair she even found time to do her mother's make up for her!
It was a great morning and I also had the pleasure of meeting Sam a great wedding photographer who I hadn't met before http://www.samantha-j.co.uk

Jo's wedding has now been featured on the 'English Wedding Blog

Laura's Winter Wedding at Kingscote Barn

As a bridal hair specialist I travel across the country creating hair for brides at some stunning venues, one of my favourite venues is Kingscote Barn and just happens to be only half an hour away from where I live in Stroud.

Kingscote Barn is one of the most popular wedding venues in the Cotswolds and certainly I find that I am there a lot creating bridal hairstyles for some amazing weddings. Last year a quarter of all the brides that I styled were at Kingscote Barn, that shows the popularity of this venue. The interesting thing though is that every wedding that I do here seems like the first one for the great team at the barn, they really do put in 110%.

Laura went for a real classic bridal hair style. I love this sort of look, it really looks back to vintage Hollywood style updo's and it was the perfect style to compliment the look that Laura was going for.

Dressed in a sparkling white dress and fur wrap Laura looked every inch the perfect winter bride.

I met a great photographer called Paul from Vanda Photography who was in charge of capturing the memories of the day, I think that the following images really give the feel of how magical Laura and Aaron's day was for them both.

Stonehouse Court Wedding near Stroud

I headed from Stroud over to the town of Stonehouse for Lou's wedding at the impressive Stonehouse Court Hotel, originally a 17th Century manor house.

I was really looking forward to styling Lou's hair this morning as not only was I creating a really fantastic style but I was doing it for such a lovely bride!

I get to meet brides ahead of their wedding to have a trial run of the style we're going to do for their big day and when I went to do Lou's hair it was such a great experience, Lou is such a great person and creating this style really brought out my creative edge!

The interesting thing with this style is that it looks very simple as if it has just been curled and pinned up quickly....how deceptive! It's very often the very simple looking styles that take more work to make them look so soft, elegant and effortless!

In this instance Lou had beautiful hair naturally but we needed to increase the bulk of her hair to make the style look 'full' enough, the secret was clip in hair extensions. Once I'd curled Lou's hair I clipped the hair up adding the extensions here and there to seamlessly blend the two together to create this stunning bridal look.

Two of the bridesmaids went for a half up/half down look which is great for bridal hairstyles, individual jewels were added to the finished styles for decoration.

This style shows a classic 'French Pleat roll', a true classical style that is always a winner for brides and bridesmaids alike.

Whilst I was styling, the videographer and photographer arrived, Ben is from The Wedding Cut, a really nice guy who runs this company that will both video and photograph your wedding, you can see a preview of Lou's wedding video on his website. Here are some of his great pics of the wedding preparation that he kindly emailed over...
