Regular readers of 'The Real Wedding Hair Blog' will know that I spend a LOT of time creating wedding hair styles at one of the Cotswolds premier wedding venues.... 'The Kingscote Barn' Near Tetbury.
I first started styling wedding hair at The Kingscote Barn around 5 years ago when it was still very much an new comer to the wedding scene, it has been a delight to be involved with such a great venue that has continued to grow and blossom and I'm privileged to be one of Kingscote Barn's recommended hairdressers.
The barn has developed at fast pace over the last few years with the addition of stunning new bedroom suites and self catering accommodation, not to mention a fabulous new outdoor oak beamed structure called 'The Linhay' where outdoor ceremonies are conducted, the hard work from the entire Kingscote team has paid off as they have recently won 'The Best Wedding Venue' in the South West for the third year in a row!!
For Julie's wedding I was in the barns onsite cottage 'Spring Cottage' which is a great self catering period cottage, set a few steps away from the barn it offers peace and privacy for the bride and party to stay and prepare for the wedding.
I'm often asked how I create such beautiful wedding hair styles and with Julie's permission I decided to show you how we added volume and more curl with clip in extensions to create Julie's dream look.
I use clip in hair extensions quite a lot for wedding hair styles, they can help by adding more length and volume to the hair and they are also a great way to create a style that will last ALL day! I started by attaching the extensions, which I had pre-curled, into the nape of the neck. Then, by twisting and pinning individual small sections I slowly built up the style. Once all of the extensions had been pinned into place I incorporated the natural hair to blend the two and create a stunning bridal up do. I think you will agree that Julie's style looked stunning and the extensions were completely undetectable.
Julie's daughter and bridesmaid Laura decided that she wanted a side swept hair style, a really popular look for weddings and great hairstyle for a bridesmaid.
Using a combination of heated rollers and GHD's I curled the hair first then pinned it to one side while giving the top a sleek sweep along the front and fullness across the crown area.
I work with lots of different make up artists on weddings and shoots, with me today was Sophie Everett, a super talented make up artist and a really lovely, calm and professional person to have help you on your wedding day.
Sophie created the looks for the bride and bridesmaids, beautiful soft and natural make up, perfect for a wedding!
To complete Julie's hair style I fixed her jewelled comb headdress into place, I always think that a headdress or jewelled adornement in the hair really does finish the look perfectly and here Julie's choice of jewelled comb gave the perfect finish to the vintage look style.
My final shot here is one I quickly took of Julie's bouquet, I'm always blown away by how beautiful the wedding flowers are and today was no exception. Florist Maria from Sorori Design Florist had created the most beautiful bouquets, I love the soft antique feel of this bouquet and particularly loved how she used viburnum berries between the roses....just gorgeous!
