Bridal Hair Training in Gloucestershire, 'Vintage' and 'Red Carpet' looks!

Normally here on 'The Real Wedding Hair Blog' I show you photos of hairstyles that I have created for wonderful weddings around the Cotswolds and further. Today though I'm talking about something a bit different, I'm VERY excited to announce that I have released the first date for my one day 'Vintage & Red Carpet Bridal Hair Training Course'.

Over the years I have taught hairdressing to apprentices, students at a local college and one to one training for salons but now I've created a one day course which is aimed at stylists who would like to expand into the exciting and enjoyable art of styling hair for weddings.

On this one day bridal hair training course I show stylists how to achieve the styles that have won me awards, the secret tips and hints that enable me to create enviable and timeless wedding hair styles.

A lot of stylists shy away from doing wedding hair styling because they have never received the correct training or been shown how to style long hair and create up do's! On this course I teach very easy and simple techniques that any hairdresser will be able to use to develop their own flair in styling long hair into creative wedding hair styles.

I demonstrate four bridal hair styles from 'Timeless & traditional' through to 'Red Carpet' look and the very popular 'Downton Abbey Vintage' inspired wedding hair style. Once I have demonstrated the different steps of the style the stylists then get hands on and have a go themselves, along with my help and guidance of course!

Teaching skills that allow stylists to adapt styles means that once they have learned these styles they will be able to adapt and create different looks and develop their own portfolio of award winning hair styles!

This one day Bridal Hair Training Course is held on Monday 24th February in Stroud in Gloucestershire, If you are interested in booking a place on this course then please check here for more details, class size is small, spaces are very limited and available on a first come first served basis.

Wedding Hair Styling at The Kingscote Barn

Regular readers of 'The Real Wedding Hair Blog' will know that I spend a LOT of time creating wedding hair styles at one of the Cotswolds premier wedding venues.... 'The Kingscote Barn' Near Tetbury.
I first started styling wedding hair at The Kingscote Barn around 5 years ago when it was still very much an new comer to the wedding scene, it has been a delight to be involved with such a great venue that has continued to grow and blossom and I'm privileged to be one of Kingscote Barn's recommended hairdressers.

The barn has developed at fast pace over the last few years with the addition of stunning new bedroom suites and self catering accommodation, not to mention a fabulous new outdoor oak beamed structure called 'The Linhay' where outdoor ceremonies are conducted, the hard work from the entire Kingscote team has paid off as they have recently won 'The Best Wedding Venue' in the South West for the third year in a row!!

For Julie's wedding I was in the barns onsite cottage 'Spring Cottage' which is a great self catering period cottage, set a few steps away from the barn it offers peace and privacy for the bride and party to stay and prepare for the wedding.

I'm often asked how I create such beautiful wedding hair styles and with Julie's permission I decided to show you how we added volume and more curl with clip in extensions to create Julie's dream look.

I use clip in hair extensions quite a lot for wedding hair styles, they can help by adding more length and volume to the hair and they are also a great way to create a style that will last ALL day! I started by attaching the extensions, which I had pre-curled, into the nape of the neck. Then, by twisting and pinning individual small sections I slowly built up the style. Once all of the extensions had been pinned into place I incorporated the natural hair to blend the two and create a stunning bridal up do. I think you will agree that Julie's style looked stunning and the extensions were completely undetectable.

Julie's daughter and bridesmaid Laura decided that she wanted a side swept hair style, a really popular look for weddings and great hairstyle for a bridesmaid.

Using a combination of heated rollers and GHD's I curled the hair first then pinned it to one side while giving the top a sleek sweep along the front and fullness across the crown area.

I work with lots of different make up artists on weddings and shoots, with me today was Sophie Everett, a super talented make up artist and a really lovely, calm and professional person to have help you on your wedding day.

Sophie created the looks for the bride and bridesmaids, beautiful soft and natural make up, perfect for a wedding!

To complete Julie's hair style I fixed her jewelled comb headdress into place, I always think that a headdress or jewelled adornement in the hair really does finish the look perfectly and here Julie's choice of jewelled comb gave the perfect finish to the vintage look style.

My final shot here is one I quickly took of Julie's bouquet, I'm always blown away by how beautiful the wedding flowers are and today was no exception. Florist Maria from Sorori Design Florist had created the most beautiful bouquets, I love the soft antique feel of this bouquet and particularly loved how she used viburnum berries between the roses....just gorgeous!

Wonderful Winter Cotswold Wedding

I love a winter wedding and here on 'The Real Wedding Hair Blog' I'm delighted to share with you today some images I took of Rebecca's hair that I styled for her Winter wedding at The Bay Tree Hotel in the beautiful Cotswold town of Burford.

The Bay Tree Hotel is part of the Cotswold Inns & Hotels group and is a gorgeous 14th century building beautifully decorated and maintained, a perfect base for a stay in the Cotswolds.

Today's styling was all about the romantic up do, softly curled and elegantly pinned into place to create a vintage feel hairstyle that would grace the screens of Downton Abbey or The Great Gatsby!

Curled and pinned into the nape of the neck this vintage style is a beautiful look for any bride and will withstand all that a wedding day throws at a hairstyle!

Part of today's professional team was Clare Bryce from Pure Pampering, Gloucestershire's leading bridal make up artist and a true specialist in creating your perfect wedding day make up.

As the bride was having an elegant up do for her look we decided on styling the bridesmaids hair into a soft half up look with twists around the sides and a detailed 'hair rose' curl at the crown area, a fabulous boho look!

Completing the look for the brides Downton Abbey feel wedding hairstyle I pinned a vintage effect diamante comb into the twist at the side. Waiting for her to slip into her beautiful gown (made in New York no less!) I then pinned her cathedral length veil into the curls to finish the look.

Rebecca had inherited a beautiful fur cape from her great Grandmother and this really did compliment the vintage feel and add to the perfect Cotswold winter wedding!!

Bridal Hair Styling for Kingscote Barn Bride

We're now heading into winter but there's no let up with weddings for me to show you here on 'The Real Wedding Hair Blog'.

Today's wedding was held at Kingscote Barn but the family were staying at nearby Pedington Manor and this is where I was styling the hair for bride Elise and bridesmaids. Pedington is a beautiful old manor house available for weekend hire and just perfect for family or guests staying for the wedding.

Half up hair styles were the order of the day and to help add extra volume and longevity to the curls we decided to use clip in hair extensions for Elise. She'd even come up with this homemade hanger for her extensions, by using super glue she attached ribbon around a wooden hanger, glued at the edges but lose along the sides so that the extensions clip over the ribbon, it worked perfectly and was super easy for me to clip the extension to and curl with GHD's.

This style is a classical look and perfect for a bride, soft waves pinned back below a full crown, once completed I attached a vintage style diamante comb for decoration and then pinned the veil below this.

Elise's sisters and bridesmaids went for similar styles curled with heated rollers to give soft waves, a fabulous vintage effect half up hair style, perfect bridesmaid hairstyles.
